The beliefs behind this substack

For years I wrote on coconutheadsets.com, about critical thinking. The name was a reference to the cargo cults from Easter Island. It has been harder and harder to generate traffic to an independent blog so I’ve moved to substack for better distribution.

The purpose of this substack is to look at things that are happening in the world through the lens of critical thinking. I generally believe that things are more nuanced than they seem, that people don’t understand feedback loops and complex systems, and that marketing messages are too easily digested by most people without thinking critically about them.
